Structural Design Works
Our scope of structural engineering design work largely includes (1) residential extensions and alterations, (2) industrial and commercial projects, (3) multiple new-build housing projects, and (4) Basement extension works.

Residential Extensions, Alterations & Basement Works

Extensions to roof, side of house, back of house, and basements, make up the most part of our structural design work. Internal alterations are always a part of such extension works.

Industrial & Commercial Projects
One of our projects involved an old concrete portal framed agricultural building which was purchased to be converted into a modern residential accommodation. This design for the conversion was completed in 2019. Because of the new thermal regulations, the roof had to be clad with insulation that will impose extra loading on the existing concrete frames which could not be structurally justified. The existing concrete frames were then sandwiched in between steel frames in order to transfer the loading. A new mezzanine floor was also added for more living space.

Another of our commercial property projects was a new two-storey industrial building in an industrial village in Croydon. The structural design for the steelwork portal framed building was completed in 2016.

Multi-Residential Newbuild Housing Development

This photo shows the frontage of one of two blocks of a residential housing project located just beside Bicester Hospital in Reading. The two-storey housing project was completed in 2017. The development consisted of 12 new residential units of traditional masonry construction.

Similar project that was completed in 2023 is the Lingfield Road housing development in east Grinstead. This housing project consisted of 11 residential units built in three separate blocks of flats.
